The apology made by Republican People\u2019s Party Vice Chairman Sezgin Tanr\u0131kulu on Dersim Massacre stirred controversy in his party.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI am Republican People\u2019s Party (CHP) Vice Chairman and I apologize for a thousand times,\u201d Sezgin Tanr\u0131kulu said last night during a live TV show on CNN T\u00fcrk.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn behalf of CHP, I am making this apology for everyone who has been hurt, killed or exiled [due to the Dersim Massacre]\u201d.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Tanr\u0131kulu\u2019s words were related to a Turkish military campaign between 1937 and 1938 against the Dersim Rebellion by local ethnic minority groups against Turkey’s Resettlement Law of 1934 where 12,000 Alevi Kurds and Zazas killed and tens of thousands exiled. At the period, CHP was in power. Tanr\u0131kulu\u2019s words marked the first apology after 76 years.<\/p>\n

\u00d6ymen: K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7daro\u011flu must condemn the apoligy<\/strong><\/p>\n

Claiming that Tanr\u0131kulu\u2019s statement can not be accepted, CHP Vice Chairman Onur \u00d6ymen expressed his hopes that the statement will be condemned by Kemal K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7daro\u011flu, CHP Chairman.<\/p>\n

\u201cOtherwise, it is possible for him to continue his post in the chair of Atat\u00fcrk [CHP\u2019s founder].<\/p>\n

Tanr\u0131kulu: CHP has nothing to be ashamed of<\/strong><\/p>\n

After the reactions, Tanr\u0131kulu told BirG\u00fcn newspaper the following: \u201cI have received positive feedback as well. CHP has nothing to be ashamed on its history. It would be naive to expect a reaction from someone who calls himself \u2018Kemal of Dersim\u2019 on matter that directly or indirectly concerns Atat\u00fcrk<\/p>\n

\u00d6zt\u00fcrk: I don\u2019t apologize or something<\/strong><\/p>\n

CHP Mersin deputy Ali R\u0131za \u00d6zt\u00fcrk said: \u201cI don\u2019t apologize or something. I don\u2019t want these outdated matters to be abused politically.\u201d<\/p>\n

Y\u0131lmaz: Not CHP, imperialists\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

CHP deputy Dilek Akag\u00fcn Y\u0131lmaz said the following on Twitter: \u201cIt is not CHP that must apologize for the Dersim Incident. It should be the imperialists and their collaborators who must do that.<\/p>\n

A\u011fbaba: State must apologize<\/strong><\/p>\n

CHP Vice Chairperson Veli A\u011fbaba, on the other hand, told Al Jazeera T\u00fcrk the following: \u201cIt is not CHP that should apologize. It must be the state. Putting all the burden on CHP is unfair and immoral.\u201d<\/p>\n
