The delegation consisting of Filiz Kerestecio\u011flu, Saruhan Olu\u00e7, Mithat Sancar, Ertu\u011frul K\u00fcrk\u00e7\u00fc, Osman Aydemir and Reyhan Yal\u00e7\u0131nda\u011f submitted an application to the ECtHR yesterday.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Peoples\u2019 Democratic Party (HDP) has applied to the European Court of the Human Rights (ECtHR) for its arrested Co-Chairs Selahattin Demirta\u015f and Figen Y\u00fcksekda\u011f, and its MP \u0130dris Baluken whom a detention warrant was issued against despite his medical condition.<\/p>\n

The delegation consisting of HDP Group Deputy Chair Filiz Kerestecio\u011flu, Vice Co-Chair Saruhan Olu\u00e7, deputies Mithat Sancar, Ertu\u011frul K\u00fcrk\u00e7\u00fc and Osman Baydemir, and human rights advocate lawyer Reyhan Yal\u00e7\u0131nda\u011f submitted an application to the ECtHR in person yesterday (February 20).<\/p>\n

Sharing information with press members following the application, the delegation members underlined that the objections to the arrests haven\u2019t been even examined by the Constitutional Court and that their arrests during the State of Emergency due to their statements is a violation of freedom of expression, right of freedom and security, and right of free election.<\/p>\n

12 of 59 HDP MPs remain behind bars<\/strong><\/p>\n

HDP Co-Chairs Selahattin Demirta\u015f and Figen Y\u00fcksekda\u011f, \u015e\u0131rnak MPs Ferhat Enc\u00fc, Leyla Birlik, Hakkari MPs Selma Irmak, Abdullah Zeydan, Diyarbak\u0131r MPs \u0130dris Baluken, Nursel Aydo\u011fan, Ziya Pir, \u0130mam Ta\u015f\u00e7\u0131er, Ankara MP S\u0131rr\u0131 S\u00fcreyya \u00d6nder and Mardin MP G\u00fclser Y\u0131ld\u0131r\u0131m were taken into custody on November 4. Y\u00fcksekda\u011f, Demirta\u015f, Baluken, Birlik, Irmak, Aydo\u011fan, Y\u0131ld\u0131r\u0131m, Zeydan and Enc\u00fc were arrested on the same day.<\/p>\n

Pir, Ta\u015f\u00e7\u0131er and \u00d6nder were later released on probation.<\/p>\n

HDP Hakkari MP Akdo\u011fan was arrested on November 7.<\/p>\n

HDP Group Deputy Chair \u00c7a\u011flar Demirel and HDP Siirt MP Besime Konca were arrested on December 13, which increased the number of arrested HDP MPs to 12.<\/p>\n

HDP \u0130stanbul MP Filiz Kerestecio\u011flu and HDP Mu\u015f MP Ahmet Y\u0131ld\u0131r\u0131m were replaced for the arrested group deputy chairs.<\/p>\n

\u015e\u0131rnak MP Leyla Birlik was released on January 4, 2017.<\/p>\n

Baluken was discharged on January 30, 2017.<\/p>\n

First released on probation after getting arrested, Adana MP Meral Dan\u0131\u015f Be\u015fta\u015f was taken into custody and arrested again on January 30, 2017 upon opposition by the Prosecutor’s office.<\/p>\n

Ayhan Bilgen was arrested on January 31.<\/p>\n

Ferhat Enc\u00fc was arrested on November 4, 2016, released on February 15, 2017 and arrested again on February 17. With Enc\u00fc’s arrest, 12 HDP MPs remain behind bars. (HK\/TK)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
